Livestock farming

We can’t be sure about the roots of sheep and goat farming in the area of Amari and the whole Psiloritis, due to the legends of the ancient times. It is based on free-range little animals (goats, sheep) that are fed mainly with wild greens, herbs and fragrant shrubs (sage, thyme). The production of quality dairy products such as local cheese, graviera, kefalograviera, kefalotyri, sweet and sour myzithra etc is a result of that type of livestock farming. Moreover, these products don’t contain pigments, flavor enhancers or other additives.
